Are you a financial controller with a strong background in the legal industry? A well-established and growing law firm in Sydney is seeking a Financial Controller to take full ownership of the firm's financial operations and act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership.
This is a rare opportunity to step into a position of trust and influence, working side-by-side with the firm's Principal in a full-time, in-office role.
Key responsibilities:
Manage the firm’s entire financial function, including:
- Bookkeeping, billing, payroll, debt recovery, budgeting, and forecasting
- Trust accounting and compliance with trust audit requirements
- Financial reporting and strategic analysis
- Oversight of all accounts, banking, and credit card reconciliations
- Deliver accurate, insightful financial and business performance reports to the Principal
- Streamline financial systems and processes to support firm growth
- Provide strategic input and financial modelling to guide decision-making
- Maintain a high level of financial integrity and confidentiality
About you: - A confident, highly trustworthy finance professional with strong attention to detail
- Experience working within a law firm or professional services environment is essential
- Deep understanding of legal trust accounting and Law Society compliance
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills
- Strong communication skills – able to present complex financial information clearly
- Proven ability to take ownership and drive continuous improvement
- You enjoy working onsite, shoulder-to-shoulder with leadership, and being a key part of a close-knit team
