About the Firm:

Our client is a well-established specialist commercial law firm with a strong Construction, Projects & Infrastructure practice and a growing Sydney presence. The team is known for being practical, highly technical and genuinely collaborative — the kind of environment where good lawyers stay because the work is interesting and the support is real. If you’re looking to sharpen your back-end expertise while stepping into a more senior seat, this is a standout platform.

About the position:

Our client is looking for a Senior Associate Construction Lawyer (back-end) to join our clients’ team in Sydney. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys running complex matters end-to-end, advising confidently in the heat of a project, and helping shape strategy for clients managing risk, delay and disputes.
You will have exposure to a quality mix of work including:
  • Security of Payment matters (claims, schedules, adjudications and enforcement)
  • Contractual claims and dispute strategy (variations, time bars, LDs, acceleration)
  • Delay and disruption issues (EOTs, prolongation, disruption and quantum support)
  • Defects and defective work disputes, rectification strategy and recoveries
  • Litigation and ADR pathways (mediation, arbitration, expert determination)
  • Live project advisory work to keep projects moving and avoid escalation
  • Briefing and managing counsel/experts and mentoring junior lawyers on matters
This is a role where you’ll be trusted with responsibility, supported by senior practitioners, and positioned for long-term progression.

Key Requirements:
  • Typically 5+ years PAE in construction law with a strong back-end focus
  • Experience with Security of Payment and construction disputes/claims
  • Confident drafting skills (advices, submissions, pleadings and correspondence)
  • Ability to run matters with appropriate supervision and manage competing deadlines
  • Strong client management skills and a commercial, solutions-focused approach
  • Interest in mentoring juniors and contributing to a high-performing team
