Newly created position available for a Construction and Building Defects Lawyer with a minimum 2 years PAE to join a boutique firm specialising in strata, property, and construction law. The firm is suburban based in the St George / Hurstville area of Sydney.
This role offers a diverse mix of litigation and front-end advisory work, including contract drafting, dispute resolution, and defect claims. It's an ideal position for a well-rounded lawyer looking to work closely with experienced practitioners in a supportive, flexible environment.
Salary and Features of the position: - Salary in the range of $100,000 – $160,000 + super
- Hybrid working options and flexible start/finish times
- Option for 4 days per week available
- Reasonable billable expectations (no burnout culture)

- Direct mentorship from senior lawyers and regular collaboration with Counsel
- Exposure to a blend of litigation and front-end advisory work

About the position:
This is a diverse and hands-on role working across disputes and advisory work for a client base that includes strata managers, owners corporations, developers and property professionals.
You’ll take the lead on matters such as:
- Advising on proceedings involving builders, developers and consultants
- Managing defect litigation in NCAT, District and Supreme Courts
- Drafting and negotiating construction-related agreements
- Preparing for mediations and arbitrations
- Working closely with external Counsel on contested matters
- Engaging directly with clients and stakeholders on strategic outcomes
The firm also handles a broad range of property law, strata disputes and commercial contract work, offering variety and potential to broaden your skill set over time.
Key Requirements: - 2 years + PAE in construction or defects law
- Demonstrated litigation experience across tribunals and courts
- Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage files with independence and commercial awareness
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Team-oriented, proactive and client-first in approach
