Northern NSW Local Health District is seeking Locum Emergency Medicine Doctors from RMO through to Consultant level to provide Emergency Department cover across regional hospital settings.

Clinical Environment

You will provide Emergency Medicine cover within Northern NSW LHD across a range of Emergency Department settings.

• Broad ED exposure – manage acute presentations across trauma, cardiac, paediatrics and critical care
• Multiple levels considered – suitable for RMO, SRMO, Registrar, CMO and Consultant-level doctors
• Supported ED environments – work with consultant, registrar, nursing and hospital teams
• Procedural and resuscitation experience – refine acute care, critical care and emergency management skills
• Flexible locum options – short-term blocks, ongoing bookings and FIFO options available

Patient Demographic

You will support a broad Emergency Department patient mix, including adults, older patients, paediatric patients, trauma presentations, cardiac presentations, acute medical cases, mental health presentations, critically unwell patients and patients requiring assessment, stabilisation, escalation or transfer.

Key Duties

Duties will vary depending on your level and roster, but may include:

• Assess and manage Emergency Department presentations
• Provide clinical care within your scope and level of experience
• Support patient flow, clinical documentation and handover
• Assist with acute presentations, procedures and resuscitation requirements
• Escalate clinical concerns appropriately
• Work collaboratively with medical, nursing and hospital teams
• Provide senior decision-making or supervision where appropriate

Requirements

• Current AHPRA General or Specialist Registration
• Minimum PGY2+ with recent Emergency Medicine experience
• ALS certification required, with ALS2 preferred for senior doctors
• Australian working rights
• Ability to work safely within scope and escalate appropriately
• Current CV, references and compliance documents as required
