The Opportunity:
 
Hunter New England LHD is seeking experienced Consultants, Staff Specialists, or VMOs in Anaesthetics to support public hospital services across the district. These roles offer an excellent variety of elective lists, emergency theatre cover, and on-call responsibilities — with full perioperative team support.
 
Clinical Environment:

• Diverse caseloads including general surgery, orthopaedics, obstetrics, and trauma — providing excellent procedural variety
• Elective and emergency theatre work depending on site and shift
• Well-supported theatres with skilled OTs, nursing teams, and surgical staff
• Anaesthetic autonomy in regional settings, with clear escalation pathways
• Opportunities to mentor junior doctors and contribute to teaching in some sites

 
Eligibility Criteria:

• AHPRA Specialist Registration
• FANZCA or equivalent
• NSW Working with Children Check and Police Check
• Willingness to complete credentialing and onboarding

• Up to $3,500/shift, based on experience, shift structure, and on-call
• Travel, accommodation, and hire car provided

• Ad hoc and block availability welcomed
