Job Description

Overview A nationally recognised commercial firm's Real Estate & Development (RED) division is seeking a lawyer with genuine institutional leasing experience. You will act for REITs, superannuation funds, listed property groups, and major developers across some of Australia's most significant property portfolios.

About the Firm

Our client is a nationally recognised commercial law firm with a specialist Real Estate & Development division. The practice advises institutional landlords, REITs, superannuation funds, listed property groups, and major developers across all facets of real estate — acquisition through to completion. The leasing team operates at the upper end of the Sydney market with a broad mandate covering commercial, retail, industrial, and residential asset classes.

About the Role:

The Position Reporting to the Divisional Leader within the RED team, you will work across three main areas:
Institutional Leasing — acting for major landlords, REITs, super funds, and listed property groups across:
  • Shopping centres and large-format retail precincts
  • Commercial office towers for institutional landlords and blue-chip tenants
  • Industrial estates, logistics and distribution centres
  • Build-to-Rent (BTR) leasing structures and portfolio arrangements
Off The Plan Sales — day-to-day conduct of OTP files, liaising with clients' solicitors, conveyancers and banks; drafting correspondence for DL approval; PEXA processing and settlement adjustments.

Drafting, Research & File Management — legal correspondence, comparison tables, E-alerts, time recording, billing and collections in line with KPI targets; briefing barristers and experts; business development participation.

Requirements
  • 3–4 years post-admission experience in property/real estate law
  • Institutional leasing experience essential — REIT, superannuation fund, or major landlord mandates required
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills across complex commercial leasing documentation
  • NSW practising certificate; interstate experience advantageous
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; Practice Evolve or similar PMS desirable
  • Diploma in Conveyancing advantageous
  • KPI-driven, commercially minded, strong organisational skills and high attention to detail
