Job Description

The Role

A genuine opening has emerged for a Senior Associate (5+ years PAE) to join the Construction & Infrastructure group in Sydney, embedded in a highly regarded front-end procurement team. This is a projects-first role — you will be advising on procurement strategy, project structuring and contract negotiation from inception.

You will work directly with a senior Partner on complex, high-value procurement and infrastructure transactions for the country's largest and most interesting clients. The work involves the full spectrum of contract structures used in the construction and infrastructure industry.

What's On Offer
  • Highly competitive salary package — $160,000–$220,000 + performance bonus, commensurate with experience (market-leading for front-end specialists)
  • Flexible 3:2 WFH arrangements — genuine flexibility built into the team's operating model
  • Merit-based promotions, full stop — career advancement driven by performance, not tenure or internal politics
  • 180-day career forecasting sessions — structured, regular career conversations so there are never any surprises about your trajectory
  • Complex, high-value project work from day one — mandates spanning the full construction and infrastructure market, including multi-billion dollar procurement programs
  • National platform and brand — the resources, referral network and market positioning of one of Australia's largest legal partnerships behind every matter
  • Collaborative, down-to-earth team — serious lawyers who take the work seriously but don't take themselves seriously
About the Firm

The Construction & Infrastructure team is a national practice advising governments, ASX-listed developers, major contractors, banks and specialist subcontractors on some of the country's most significant and complex procurement and infrastructure work.

The team acts for Federal, State and Local Government clients on major procurement and infrastructure programs, and for a broad portfolio of private clients including national property developers, major contractors, universities, banks and specialist subcontractors. Projects span industrial, mixed-use commercial and retail, residential, civil, automated warehousing, waste and major infrastructure — with individual mandates regularly running into the billions.

What You'll Bring

• 4+ years PAE in construction and infrastructure law, with a strong front-end / procurement focus
• Working knowledge of standard Australian contract forms — PPP, D&C, ECI, Managing Contractor, Alliance Contracts, AS forms
• Experience advising government clients or major private sector principals on procurement and project delivery
• Strong drafting and negotiation skills backed by sound commercial instincts
• Ability to manage competing priorities across multiple complex matters simultaneously
• Leadership presence — you're ready to mentor junior lawyers and contribute to the team, not just execute tasks
• A collaborative, team-first working style
